Main Functions and Responsibilities :

In order to maintain the proper sanitation system of Bhopal, which has an area of ​​648.24 square kilometers, has been divided into 15 zones (85 wards) and  cleaning works are being split into the health inspector in each zone / Swachcta incharge is also placed. Nallaas are cleaned and Gamaxing powders is spread after cleansing. Sewer cleaning machine is used to clear the sewer lines. Along with this anti-bacterial powders are spread to prevent malaria and other diseases. In order to prevent malaria, chikunguniya, Dengue, etc. the related areas under threat are being selected and spread with Gambushiya Fish/Medicine under the direction of malaria officer. On a regular basis garbage collection, sweeping, lifting garbage from the container through the sanitary workers and shifting them to trenching ground located in bhanpur khanti is done through 169 vehicles. Each and every zones are supplied with 10 JCB, 14 Dumper, 7 Robots for lifting of garbage. In addition, the successful execution of the waste away from the city to the ground for the modern Trencing Fatehpur Dobra 63 acres have been reserved. At present precautionary measures are taken to prevent swine flu in which water coolers are emptied, water retention in tyres, flower pots, etc are advised to be kept clean.   1. Polythene Seizure :-  Strict measure are taken against weekly markets and urban areas where polythene are in use. Under this 14 cases are pending in court from which 9 cases are being penalized with Rs. 90000/- warning for future.
  2. Clean Bhopal Initiative:- This initiative is taken by BMC in order to speared awareness related to sanitation  in this campaign run from  01-03-14 to 20-03-14 and 05-06-14 to 25-06-14.
  3. Door-to-Door Garbage collection:- This system has been started by BMC at each Zone and Ward level from 15 Aug 2013. Under this system total 580 cycle  rickshaws, 19 auto rickshaws are being used for collecting garbage by employing 1280 workers and 69 supervisors for 231000/- residential and commercial properties. BMC has arranged for separate collection of organic and inorganic waste in Zone 12 ward 55 as a pilot project and same is proposed for zone 13 ward 61.

Mega Health Check Camp:- Mega health checkup camp was conduct on 15 .01.2014 for the employees of the sanitary department along with employees of entire department and total 5223 employees attended this camp free of cost. Doctors from reputed hospitals of the city, such as JP Hospital, Viva Hospital, Cancer Hospital, People's Dental Hospital, RKDF Medical College, specialist doctors were staff intensive fitness tests.
  6. To combat malaria preparation to spread insecticides through machines is being prepared.
